Travel Ideas and What to do in South Beach
There are many restaurants to enjoy, nightclubs for dancing in, and shops to browse through in South Beach. Check out Miami’s famous neighborhood at any time of the year.
Known for the fabulous Art Deco architecture and miles of sandy shoreline, visiting South Beach (or SoBe) is ideal for a fun Miami vacation because almost everything in the area is a short walk away.
Spend the morning on the beach, the afternoon shopping, and then head out to a club for the rest of the evening. All of this is possible within a two to the six-block radius.
Casual Outdoor Dining on Lincoln Road
The revitalization of Lincoln Road created a cultural center for South Beach when it was redesigned in 1960. This is one of the first car-free, pedestrian-only malls in the United States.
The wide promenade is enhanced with lush mangrove trees, leafy palms, and angular fountains. Most restaurants on the strip have patios and the brightly colored umbrellas offer shade from the blazing Florida sun.
While there is the option of eating inside, by doing so the opportunity to people watch is lost. There is a constant stream of foot traffic on Lincoln Road and many of the residents here can only be described as buff, tanned, and in minimal clothing.
Spris
Grab a front-row table at Spris and watch the world go by. A favorite with locals because of their gourmet, thin-crust pizzas, the enormous fresh salads are perfect for helping to keep the body Miami Beach worthy.
da Leo Trattoria
Another hot spot, especially at night, is da Leo Trattoria. This is the oldest restaurant on Lincoln Road and da Leo is lively and crowded. The boisterous atmosphere makes eating here a party any night of the week.

The Delano
The Delano remains impossibly chic and is perhaps the trendiest hotel on the street. This is where people go to been seen. Book a table, outside at The Blue Door and devour the meal while overlooking the spectacular pool. After dinner, head to The Florida Room to listen to live music or grab a stool in the Rose Bar and watch the fancy hotel guests as they arrive.
Ritz-Carlton
Sitting at the top of Lincoln Road, closest to Miami Beach is the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. While it is not as popular or as cool as the Delano, The Ritz excels in service and refined relaxation.
Order from the tapas-style menu in Lapidus Lounge and try a concoction from their innovative cocktail list or head outside to The DiLido Beach Club. This restaurant and lounge is the only oceanfront establishment in South Beach.
